Privacy Policy
- Everything the app does to your drives happens on your phone. Files, file names and drive contents are never uploaded.
- The app uses Google services (Firebase, Google Play, and Google Mobile Ads when ads are on). They collect usage, crash and device data as described below.
- If you email us, we receive your email address and message, and use them only to reply.
- We don't sell your data.
1. Who we are
USB Drive Toolkit ("the app") is developed by JayTheDev ("we", "us"). Contact: tuantruong.a8k29@gmail.com.
2. What stays on your device
The app formats USB drives and SD cards, measures their speed, checks whether their capacity is real and shows drive information. To do this it reads from and writes to the drive you choose. All of that is processed locally:
- Drive contents, file names, partition data, test data and test results are not sent to us or to anyone else.
- Your history, statistics and settings are stored in the app's private storage. Android may include them in your device backup (for example Google One / Google Drive backup) if you have backup turned on. You can clear them in the app (Settings → Clear History / Clear Statistics) or by uninstalling the app.
- Some tools keep a short-lived recovery copy of the drive areas they test, in the app's private storage, so your data can be put back if the drive is unplugged mid-test. It is deleted when the test finishes or is recovered.
- When you choose to share a result, it is passed to the app you pick through Android's share sheet.
3. Permissions
- USB access – Android asks you for permission for each drive. The app only accesses the drive you select.
- Internet and network state – used for the Google services below. The app also checks whether you are online before starting some tools.
- Storage (Android 8–9 only) – only to save a file you choose to export.
4. Data collected by third-party services
The app uses the following services, provided by Google. They collect data automatically and process it under their own privacy policies.
| Service | What it collects | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase Analytics | App interactions (for example which tool was used, app opens), app instance ID, device model, Android version, language, approximate location derived from IP address. If ads are enabled, the advertising ID. | Understand which features are used and improve the app. |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Crash and error reports: stack traces, device model, Android version, free memory/disk, a crash installation ID. | Find and fix crashes. |
| Firebase Remote Config | Firebase installation ID, app version, device language and country. | Deliver app settings (for example update prompts) without an app update. |
| Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) and Google User Messaging Platform | Advertising ID, IP address, device information, ad interactions, and your consent choices. Ads are currently turned off; this applies when they are shown. | Show ads, measure them and prevent fraud; ask for consent where the law requires it (EEA, UK, Switzerland and some US states). |
| Google Play Billing | Purchase details are handled by Google Play. We only receive whether a purchase is valid. We never see your payment information. | Process the optional one-time Premium purchase. |
| Google Play In-App Review and In-App Updates | Handled by Google Play. | Let you rate the app and install updates. |
Google's policies: Google Privacy Policy, Firebase privacy and security, How Google uses information from apps that use its services.
5. Contacting us
The app has no feedback form and does not send messages to our servers. If you contact us by email (Settings → Contact Support), we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them only to answer you. We delete the conversation when it is no longer needed, or sooner if you ask.
6. Ads and your choices
When ads are shown, users in regions that require it are asked for consent first, and you can change your choice later in Settings → Manage ad consent. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in your Android settings (Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads). Buying Premium removes ads.
7. Sharing and selling
We do not sell your personal data and do not share it for purposes other than those described above. We may disclose information if required by law.
8. Retention and security
Data collected by Google services is kept according to their retention settings (for example, Firebase Analytics keeps event data for up to 14 months and Crashlytics keeps crash reports for 90 days). All data the app sends travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK or state laws in the US), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, and to object to its processing. To make a request, email tuantruong.a8k29@gmail.com. We don't operate user accounts, so apart from emails you sent us we hold no data that identifies you; data held by Google services can be managed through your Google account and Android settings. You can also uninstall the app at any time to stop all collection.
10. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
